🚨 Executive Summary: A Potential Genocide-Scale Atrocity

Tanzania’s October 29, 2025 general election has triggered what may be the deadliest electoral violence in modern African history. International human rights activists submitted an 82-page dossier to the International Criminal Court accusing Tanzanian security forces of deliberately killing between 700 and 3,000 protesters after the election. Mwanase Ahmed, a human rights defender with Jumuiya ni Yetu coalition, said the names compiled and lists of people searching for relatives in hospitals and police stations suggest between 5,000 and 10,000 people were killed by security forces.

A CNN investigation revealed that police and armed forces shot at protesters, many of them unarmed or only carrying stones and sticks, with videos, sound analysis, witness stories, and satellite images all indicating the government used extreme violence to crush protests. Opposition party Chadema accused police of disposing of hundreds of demonstrators’ bodies, with their communications director stating “the police have thrown away over 400 bodies. We don’t even know where they’ve taken them.”

This is not spontaneous violence. Intelligence analysis of the systematic nature of the killings, coordinated security operations across multiple regions, body disposal infrastructure, and strategic timing suggests high-level operational planning. Multiple insider sources, including explosive testimony from former CCM Ideology and Publicity Secretary Humphrey Polepole, point to former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete as the strategic architect behind this authoritarian consolidation—a calculated campaign to eliminate political opposition through overwhelming lethal force and systematic cover-up operations.
