Uganda is once again at a crossroads. As the East African nation prepares for its 2026 general elections, troubling indicators suggest a return to the political violence of its past. Central to these concerns is General Muhoozi Kainerugaba—son of President Yoweri Museveni—whose erratic, often threatening presence on social media has become a lightning rod for controversy and fear. His digital footprint is now seen not only as a source of domestic unease but also as a warning to the international community about the potential escalation of ethnicized political violence in Uganda.
